Want to help grow a greener community?
Louisville Grows works to create a more just and sustainable Louisville, and we can’t do that without our volunteers. Below are the current volunteer options at Louisville Grows.
Urban Agriculture & Our Community Gardens
Become a Citizen Gardener
Our Citizen Gardener Training program mobilizes community volunteers by walking participants through the basics of plant anatomy and physiology, assessing land for garden opportunities, plant identification and selection for different garden spaces, and teaches our garden volunteers how to organize, build, and care for their gardens using Louisville Grows’ Community Garden Toolkit. Citizen Gardener training is for individuals of all abilities! After certification, Citizen Gardeners will be offered volunteer opportunities such as building raised beds, working on our Hope Farm, attending weekly work nights at our community gardens, or assisting in our luxuriously warm and sunny greenhouse this spring. We offer Citizen Gardener Classes several times a year, and you can learn more about upcoming classes by visiting our Volunteer and Event Calendar or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Louisville Grows Green Team
Our Louisville Grows Green Team helps with all projects, big and small, in our community gardens, urban farm, greenhouse, and orchards! This is a great way to get involved if you are looking to do a one-time volunteer event or group service. If you’re interested in joining our Green Team, please contact email@example.com for information.
Urban Forestry & Love Louisville Trees Program
Become a Citizen Forester
The Citizen Forestry Training is the foundation of the Love Louisville Trees Planting Program. Through the Citizen Forestry 101 and 102 courses, participants learn how to build and maintain our neighborhood and community forests. Participants are taught basic tree anatomy and physiology, environmental stewardship, tree identification and selection, young tree pruning, and how to teach others how to properly plant and care for their trees. Citizen Foresters who have participated in 2 planting day events are eligible to become Community Foresters. We offer Citizen Forester classes several times a year, and you can learn more about upcoming classes by visiting our Volunteer and Event Calendar or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
