Cultural Center Project Makes the News

The ground breaking event drew quite a number of people including a bit of press. This is the first community gardens on campus and will be student run while focusing on community outreach and diversity.

An article by UofL Today caught the essence of the event. “The project will teach students how to grow their own food and about food policy issues and the benefits of sustainable growing practices.
Organizers see UofL’s community garden serving as a model for others in the city.”

Food Not Lawns Work Shop

FNLbook

We are in the process of setting up a workshop on permaculture and a seed swap event in late winter with Heather Flores, co-founder of the Food Not Lawns grassroots gardening project in Eugene, OR.В  This is very early in the making and is subject to change, but if you or your organization are interested in participating it would be a great way to prepare for next seasons planting.

Seed Balls

Seedball

On the week of July 6th the fruits of the Louisville Grows Volunteers labor was spread across Louisville proper. We made 60+ seed balls, crammed into my truck, and proceeded to share our little bundles of love with our favorite community in a drive-by fashion. So, if you happen to see wildflowers popping up around your neighborhood you might be witnessing our first efforts at bringing some of our good natured works to your home.
