The People’s Garden was created in 2011 to offer space for Shawnee residents to garden, meet, learn, and grow.

Many of our garden members have been with the project since the beginning, and serve on the People’s Garden Advisory Council. Throughout the year groups from nearby schools, community centers, and churches visit the garden to participate in educational programming, tours, and special events.

The project houses 6,000 square feet of greenhouse space, a 1-acre market garden, a 20-member community garden, a large fruit orchard, and a children’s educational garden. Since 2012, Louisville Grows garden members have grown over 3,000 pounds of produce for distribution to local groceries, restaurants, and families.  The People’s Garden also hosts the Seeds and Starts sales each spring, and a block party during the late summer.

If you are interested in volunteering in the garden or setting up a group service day, please contact volunteer@louisvillegrows.org.
